This Year Expect A Lot Of Laughter From Me: Abhishek

Abhishek Bachchan is all set to give his funny bone a run for its money.

This year he is part of two comic franchises .

And, well, Abhishek is loving it.

“I’ve done a lot of serious intense roles. But Bol Bachchan and Happy New Year, both blockbusters by the way, showed me how much fun acting can be. I was part of a terrific cast in both, and I had a ball.”

Abhishek has decided to do more comedy films. “I’ve taken on Housefull 3 and Hera Pheri 4. It’s a big challenge for me , because both are very big franchises. Would I be able to deliver? I think I would. I have always enjoyed comedy. In real life too I like making people laugh.”

At the moment Abhishek is shooting for a more serious film All Is well where Rishi Kapoor and Supriya Pathak play his parents in a drama about a dysfunctional family. The film went through a casting crisis when Smriti Irani opted out in favour of her political commitments.

“But all is well with All Is Well now, “assures Abhishek. “It’s a film I’m really looking forward to.”

There are other things that Abhishek is looking forward to. “My kabbaddi and football teams are doing well. We return with our Kabbaddi team in July and with the football team at the end of year.”

Abhishek says he says he has enjoyed tapping his sporting spirit. “Getting into kabbaddi and football were a big high for me. I didn’t just buy the teams and return to what I do for my living. I took time off from my acting and nurtured the teams. By God’s grace my teams are doing well for themselves.”

The past year has been great fun for Abhishek. “I did Happy New Year. I had the time of my life working with Shah Rukh and Farah Khan. I’ll always be grateful to them for giving me this opportunity.”

Every year on his birthday on 5 February Abhishek Bachchan likes to be working. This year, however, his wish went unheard by the powers above.

“I was supposed to be shooting for Umesh Shukla’s All Is Well on my birthday. But my leading lady Asin fell ill. So I did my other favourite thing. I spent the day with my family,” says Abhishek.

The actor says he wishes to do good roles this year. “I just want to keep working in the kind of films I like. God has granted me everything I ever wanted. I really don’t need anything else.”
