It seems that controversies harbor a special liking for ‘Dolly Ki Doli’ actress Sonam Kapoor who often ends up getting bad press for her upfront remarks.
Recently, her statement regarding one of her contemporaries, Deepika Padukone, showed her in poor light. And Sonam is highly displeased with the way her sentence was interpreted by the media.
The issue arose when Sonam said that she would never openly declare her plans to perform charitable deeds. This statement came directly after Deepika revealed her idea to lend her support to spread awareness about depression and other mental ills.
Upset with the whole controversy due to her misinterpreted statement, Sonam recently shared with Mumbai Mirror, “I didn’t even mention her name but as usual my words were lost in translation.”
The actress added that what she exactly meant to say that philanthropic acts do need a public platform. They should never be, however, performed for personal benefits.
Regarding her so-called enmity with Deepika, she said, “I don’t even know what causes Deepika supports. I respect her, she’s always gracious,” she points out.
On being asked by the daily, why she ignored Deepika at an awards event held lately, the ‘Khoobsurat’ actress said, “I didn’t even know she was at the same function. Seriously, there’s nothing wrong between us, it’s the media which lacks news. Any kind of negativity makes for good copy.”
Well, with her clarification, Sonam has left little room for any more doubts about her intentions.
