Sonam Kapoor is gearing up for the release of her forthcoming movie “Dolly Ki Doli”, which will see her essay a con woman. The movie has been directed by Abhishek Dogra and produced by Arbaaz Khan. In a recent interview, the actress said that no one has given her so much love and respect as Arbaaz.
In an interview with Bombay Times, when asked about her experience of working with Arbaaz, Sonam said, “I knew him only as a friend of the family, but I know him now after working with him in ‘Dolly Ki Doli’. No one has given me so much respect and love as Arbaaz has. He is a lovely man. He is a godly man.”
“There is something so lovely about him that is so correct and right and is so ethical. There is nothing that he would do that is incorrect. He has no greys for him. It’s all black and white. And it’s so strange that he is making Dolly, who is completely grey. She has no moral compass and does not know the difference between black and white and that’s also what makes her so endearing,” she added.
The actress further said that she was shocked to hear that Arbaaz, who produced “Dabangg” and directed “Dabangg 2”, wanted to make “Dolly Ki Doli”.
Asked what made her choose the movie, she said, “I liked it instinctively. I don’t like a formula, don’t want a formula. I am trying to be as idealistic in an industry like this. Where I look for content and a character that gets me excited, at the same time, that is entertaining and watchable. And be it Milli from Khoobsurat or a Dolly from Dolly Ki Doli, they are both that. Even though Dolly Ki Doli had a new director, I knew that Arbaaz Khan was there.”
“It was a shock for me that the maker of ‘Dabangg’ and ‘Dabangg 2’ wanted to make ‘Dolly Ki Doli’, even though he could have made whatever he wanted to make. But he wanted to make this film with me with a new director, just because he was passionate about it and you are already a winner there if the producer is on your side and is so passionate about a project,” Sonam added.
“Dolly Ki Doli” also features Rajkummar Rao, Pulkit Samrat and Varun Sharma. It will hit the screens on January 23.
