Ayushmann Khurana has Aditya Chopra to thank for a lot, including the smart positioning of his small gem of a film, ‘ Dum Laga Ke Haisha’. This film has gone on to control the negative impact of his period film ‘Hawaizaada’.
“I am glad that he’s there, and is just a phone call away. It’s amazing an opinion leader of the industry is a big thing to achieve.”
When ‘Hawaizaada’, a film in which Ayushmann put his heart & soul, tanked, Aditya Chopra took the decision to prepone the release of ‘Dum Laga Ke…” at short notice.
“I remember when Hawaizaada released, I was very confident of the film. I hadn’t seen it’s final edit. After its release, he told me that we are releasing ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’ right now. I was so nervous. I was down and out, and he told me that, as a coach, I know that it’s time to get up again and fight. I believe in this script and in your ability to deliver this role. I have confidence in you. His confidence gave me confidence in a way. He also said that don’t let give the breathing time after Hawaizaada. Two days after it’s release, the promo of ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’ released and people started talking about it.”
A sleeper hit in the true sense of the word, ‘Um Laga Ke Haisha’ has collected more in it’s second week. The film collected 11.45 crores approximately in it’s second week, and in it’s first weekend the film collected approximately 10 crores. Riding on strong word of mouth publicity, the film is expected to do better through this week.
