Konkona to play a cop in Sonakshi starer ‘Akira’

Konkona Sen Sharma, last seen as Daayan in ‘Ek Thi Daayan, will now be seen as a cop in A R Murugadoss’ ‘Akira’.
While earlier Tabu was approached for the role, she denied it citing a date clash with Nishikant Kamat’s Drishyam, in which she plays a cop too.
But Konkona had a meeting with the studio executives and the director, post which she readily agreed to come on board. A source told Mumbai Mirror, “”They faced no such issues with Konkana, who liked the film’s concept and immediately gave the nod.”
The actress is known for having a liking for indie projects, and taking up an action-packed pot-boiler comes across as a surprise. She is going to play a sari-clad tough cop beating up baddies. The source also said, “”She has some witty one-liners in the film. It’s probably the most masala movie she’s ever done.”
The film has Sonakshi Sinha in the titular role along with Anurag Kashyap and Amit Sadh.
