Akshay Kumar-starrer “Baby” is all set to keep the cash counters ringing at the box-office counters. The action thriller collected Rs.9.3 crore on its debut day racing much ahead of Sonam Kapoor’s “Dolly Ki Doli” which raked in Rs.2.55 crore.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh says that the both the movies will pick up business on Saturday, Sunday and Monday with the long Republic Day weekend.
He took to microblogging website Twitter to share the collection figures. He tweeted, “#Baby Fri ₹ 9.3 cr. Biz picked up during evening/night shows. Superb word of mouth. Biz to multiply on Sat, Sun and Mon [Republic Day].”
“#DollyKiDoli Fri ₹ 2.55 cr. Biz should escalate on Sat, Sun, Mon [Republic Day],” he later tweeted.
Directed by Neeraj Pandey, “Baby” also features Taapsee Pannu, Anupam Kher, Rana Daggubati and Danny Denzongpa.
“Dolly Ki Doli” features Sonam as a con-woman. Directed by Abhishek Dogra, it also features Varun Sharma, Pulkit Samrat and Rajkummar Rao.
