The list of 28 cuss words banned by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) under Chief Pahlaj Nihalani has been a topic of debate since the day it was released. Nihalani had earlier said that if the industry has a problem with it, they can approach the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B).
Anurag Kashyap, who had recently met junior minister Rajyavardhan Rathore to talk about the ban, is now planning to meet I&B Minister Arun Jaitley.
The filmmaker is co-producing Anushka Sharma-starrer ‘NH10’ and recently there were reports that the movie has been postponed because of the new guidelines by the Censor Board. It is said that Anurag will be meeting Jaitley officially now in a couple of days in New Delhi, after which the film will be presented to Censors for their viewing.
While no one is confirming this yet, many leading filmmakers and producers (including Ekta Kapoor) are expected to join Anurag in the meeting with the central government. In Mumbai, filmmakers like Ashoke Pandit have also been arguing against this ban imposed by Nihalani.
In the latest development, other members of the Censor Board have stopped Nihalani’s random attempt at imposition of a ban on cuss-words as they weren’t included in this discussion.
So that’s a victory for Bollywood.
