Akshay Kumar and Nimrat Kaur’s upcoming movie ‘Airlift’ went on floors on February 21 in a suburban studio in Mumbai. The film will be shot in Mumbai, Ras Al Khaimah and Bhuj among other locations.
Directed by Raja Krishna Menon, ‘Airlift’, is based on true events and is set in Kuwait pre and during the 1990 Gulf War. The movie is the story of the world’s largest civilian evacuation in which more than 170,000 Indians were evacuated from war-torn Kuwait.
Akshay will play Ranjit Katyal in the movie and Nimrat will essay his wife. Ranjit is the mastermind, who coordinates and leads this operation against all odds and in the wake of great personal sacrifice.
Akshay is excited for the movie and said, “I have fallen in love with Airlift and its unique story. Rarely, does one come across a story that has such unique and universal appeal. I am very excited and happy that the film has kicked-off in Mumbai.”
The film, presented by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and Cape of Good Films, is produced by Nikhil Advani under his banner Emmay Entertainment and is in collaboration with Vikram Malhotra’s Abundantia.
