Ajay Devgn’s ‘Sons of Sardaar’ to be based on a true story

Ajay Devgn’s ‘Sons of Sardaar’ will be based on a true story, the ‘Battle of Saragarhi’ which was fought on September 12, 1897, by 21 Sikhs of the 4th Battalion of the Sikh Regiment.

The entire battalion lost their lives fighting against 10,000 Afghans. The battle was held in the North-West Frontier Province and the 21 Sikh contingent was led by Havildar Ishar Singh and they all fought to death. A Times of India news report stated that unlike ‘Son of Sardaar’, this film won’t be a comedy film. Instead it will be based on the story of these real sons of sardaars, the ‘Sikhs of Saragarhi.’

This would not be the first time Ajay will portray a historic character. His role as Bhagat Singh in the film ‘Legend of Bhagat Singh’, won him the National award. With ‘Sons of Sardaar’ Ajay will once again don the cap of a brave fighter and leader.  He will start this film post ‘Shivaay’ in July 2016 for a 2017 Diwali release.
