TV actress Pratyusha Banerjee’s death came as a shock to the TV and film industry last week. Many B-town celebs voiced their condolences and sent across prayers for the greiving family. While the industry folks are deep in discussion regarding the pressures and mental stress that exist in the industry, Mahesh Bhatt recently opened up about the atrocities that B-town women face in terms of abuse and domestic violence.
The forthright filmmaker and dad of Alia Bhatt said, “In the entertainment industry, I have seen innumerable actresses who have unimaginable wealth at their disposal, inspite of being immensely articulated and having enlightened opinion on things, you call them they will give you best of the quotes on women empowerment, but privately put up with such atrocities which perhaps your domestic help wouldn’t put up to. I have seen women who are economically very weak but they refuse to put up with their bullying husbands. They would openly walk out of the relationship.”
He added, “In our entertainment world while there is no denying that there are women who have blazed ahead and are doing things which were inconceivable by our predecessors, there are many who still choose to stay in doomed relationships.”
