Sonam Kapoor is the new-age Bollywood actress who is known to always speak her mind. The actress recently took up the cause of women make-up artists who were banned from the Cine Costume And MakeUp Artist Association (CCMAA).
However, Sonam surprisingly is not one for the ‘equality of wages between male and female star’ agenda. In an interview with NDTV, Sonam said, “It’s mathematics really. There is something called a market price in our industry. It does not make economic sense for the producer to give me the same price as the lead actor of the same category. Say a Ranbir Kapoor film will open to Rs 10 crore on Friday, but my films will open significantly low. So it’s important for the producer to earn the money invested. It makes mathematic sense.”
Well, that is quite a humble remark, that too coming from head-strong Sonam Kapoor. What are your thoughts on this? Is Sonam right? or is this a non-competitive remark coming from a top star, who is often known to speak up for her gender?
