Wrestlemania Superstar Shakeup has arrived and over the next two days WWE stars will shuffle between Raw and Smackdown. The first round of the Superstar Shakeup was held on Monday night and the first round of shakeup proved to be an exciting one. The shakeup offers a chance to under-utilised performers a breath of fresh air under a new brand. On Monday night, from The Usos, The Miz, Naomi, Andrade, to Rey Mysterio, the War Raiders—now controversially known as the Viking Experience—Curtis Alexander switched brands.
During the event’s first night, the landscape of RAW underwent a shocking transformation. One of the biggest names to have shifted was AJ Styles. The long-time wrestler now has the chance at a universal championship rivalry with Seth Rollins. According to a report in ESPN, if Roman Reigns stays on Raw, he and Styles could revisit a short rivalry they had after they went face-to-face in the 2016 Royal Rumble.
Apart from Styles, The Miz moved from Smackdown to Raw and as he admits he has moved shows in every single Superstar Shakeup to date, and this gives him a clean break. Whereas Naomi, a two-time women’s champion, has been on SmackDown since the 2016 brand separation draft.
The Superstar Shakeup serves as a fresh starting point for a new year of WWE and fans could not contain their excitement. Night 2 of the superstar shakeup will only get more interesting as new and unlikely names may pop up.
