Disney released the Aladdin live-action movie on May 24 in India and one of our favourite childhood stories ever told is raking in big numbers at the domestic box office. Starring Mena Massoud as Aladdin and Naomi Scott as Jasmine, the film has impressed the audiences so far and its collections are proof enough. However, the highlight of the film, when it first released its trailer, was Will Smith in his blue genie avatar. The actor, who stepped into the shoes of a role that was made famous by the legendary and late Robin Williams in the 1992 film, evoked mixed reactions.
Despite not garnering rave reviews for his performance, we chanced upon a video of Will Smith explaining his role as Genie to two young girls. The adorable video which was shared on Twitter with the caption, “friendly reminder that we don’t deserve will smith,” has been retweeted more than 30,000 times.
The video which is from Aladdin’s world premiere shows the actor explaining his magical powers as genie to two adorable girls who seem to be smitten by the character. In the video, we also get to see Smith stopping for a minute, chatting with the girls and then taking them in to meet Naomi Scott aka Jasmine. Netizens heaped praises on the actor for his humbleness with one user even pointing out how the actor’s reps asked him to move on but he ignored them and kept on talking to the girls.
