Legendary South filmmaker and actor Vijaya Nirmala who has acted in over 200 films, passed away on Thursday morning at the age of 73. The veteran actress took her last breathe at a hospital in Gachibowli, Hyderabad. Vijaya is survived by her son Naresh and husband Krishna. Vijaya Nirmala is known for being the first woman to direct 44 movies that made her enter Guinness book of world records. The actress made her way to film industry at the age of seven with a Tamil movie Matsyarekha. She went on to appear in over 200 films in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam.
Actor Manoj Manchu took to his Twitter page and shared an emotional message as he paid his tribute. He tweeted, “You came, Created History where no one can come close to it for the ages to come and now u left us … Will Miss u Nanni, Rest In Peace … Strength to Family , Friend’s ,Welwishers and Fans …#VijayaNirmala Garu Your movies will Remain Forever.” The entire film fraternity is shocked with the sad demise of the veteran actress. Celebrities from the South Indian Film industry and fans have been expressing grief over the death of the legendary actress.
RRR star Jr NTR also tweeted, “Vijaya Nirmala Garu was a pioneering filmmaker whose life is an inspiration for many. Extremely saddened to hear the news. Extending my deepest condolences to her family.”
Vijaya Nirmala will be brought to her residence at Nanakramguda today and the final rites will be held tomorrow.
