One of the biggest takeaways from the Marvel Studios Hall H panel at San Diego Comic Con 2019 was that Angelina Jolie would be entering the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) as Thena in The Eternals. For the uninitiated, The Eternals are a race of immortal aliens sent to Earth by the celestials to protect humankind. Along with Angelina, The Eternals also stars Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff, Brian Tyree Henry, Salma Hayek, Lia McHugh and Don Lee in pivotal roles.
While speaking to People about The Eternals, Angelina was quizzed about her six children’s reaction to the actress starring in her first Marvel movie. Jolie and ex Brad Pitt have six kids – Maddox, 17, Pax, 15, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 13, and 11-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne. “What’s really moving to me is that they want to see me strong, and so it’s less to see me in a film, but they’re just happy I will be strong and having fun,” Angelina revealed.
Given that her character Thena is extremely powerful, Jolie is training really hard; from swords to ballet. The actress refers to Thena as a warrior. The shooting for The Eternals will reportedly begin filming from September 2019 while sets are already in the process of being built for the MCU film.
Directed by Chloé Zhao, The Eternals is slated to release on November 6, 2020.
