It seems like Sonu Nigam has got some support in author Taslima Nasreen after she took to Twitter to express her displeasure towards Imams. It all started when Sonu Nigam shaved his head after he reacted to a fatwa declared against him by a Kolkata-based Maulvi who announced a reward of Rs 10 lakhs to anyone who tonsured the renowned Bollywood singer and garlanded him with old shoes.
Taslima, who has always been vocal about her thoughts, took to Twitter to express her throughts on the fatwa against Sonu Nigam. She said, “Kolkata Imam once issued fatwa whoever blackens my face will get Rs 50000. A friend blackened my face. But Imam didn’t give money. Imams r liars.”
Extending her support to the Kal Ho Naa Ho singer over the Azaan row, the controversial author had earlier tweeted, “All noise pollution including religious should be stopped. If you want to wake up for praying, please set an alarm on your phone.”
She did not stop there and posted another tweet which said, “Azan is a wonderful music. But not everybody wants to listen to wonderful music when they’re in sleep, in meeting, discussing, studying, working.”
While interacting with the media in Mumbai today, the 43-year-old singer made it clear that he raised a social topic and not a religious one when he tweeted about being woken up by the sound of Azaan and also apologised if someone thought otherwise.
