Sonu Nigam, who has been facing severe backlash from social media over his controversial Azaan tweet, has finally spoken about the issue. The renowned singer has now posted a series of tweets where he has explained what exactly he meant when he earlier tweeted about having issues in getting to wake up to the early morning Azaan.
The Kal Ho Naa Ho singer in the morning tweeted, “Dear everyone. Your stand exposes your own IQ. I stand by my statement that loudspeakers should not be allowed in Mosques & Temples. Period.” Then interestingly, the singer kept defending himself the entire day. After much debate and mud-slinging, Sonu Nigam posted new tweets which seem to be the final word from the singer.
In one tweet, he said, “And dear Everyone, for those who are tainting my Tweets anti-Muslim, tell me 1 place where I have said anything related, & I’ll apologize.” And in his latest tweet he clears the air that he always said he had issues with the loudspeakers which also includes temples and Gurudwaras. “When I am talking about Loudspeakers, I did mention Temples and Gurudwaras too. Is it that hard to comprehend? Loosen up guys”.
The Bollywood crooner has been facing the social media brunt since April 16 after he triggered the debate by quoting Azaan as “forced religiousness.” The controversial tweets evoked a mixed response on the Internet and even Bollywood stood divided on the matter. We really hope this storm ends at the earliest.
