Till date, one of the most loved sequels is Rajkumar Hirani’s Munna Bhai and for all the die-hard lovers of Munna Bhai and Circuit, there is good news as the third installment of the film is going to go on floors soon. That’s right! We say this because recently, Arshad Warsi, in an interview to PTI confirmed that Munna Bhai 3 will start soon. “I do know that the script is pretty much ready. I do know from Rajkumar Hirani that the film will go on floors this year – either mid or the end of the year. The work on the script is going on. As of now, yes it’s Sanjay Dutt and me. These are the things I’ve been told,” Arshad Warsi informed PTI.
As we all know, Munna Bhai MBBS released in 2003, and its sequel Lage Raho Munna Bhai released three years later in 2006 and after more than a decade, the makers of the film are coming in with the third installment of the film. While the first installment had Gracy Singh and the second one had Vidya Balan in lead roles, it will be interesting to see who will be the female lead in Munna Bhai 3. In 2016, when Sanjay Dutt was released from Yerwada Central Jail after completing his sentence for illegal possession of firearms in 1993, Vidhu Vinod Chopra had announced back then that the third installment of Munna Bhai will begin in 2017, however, the project got delayed. But looks like that Munna Bhai 3 will finally see the light of the day and furthermore, talking about the third installment, Arshad said, “I tend to do my film and forget about my character and I move on to the next one. I tend to forget, which is what happened with Munna Bhai. When I came for the second part, I was doing the same role differently. I realised something isn’t quite right. Then Rajkumar Hirani and I saw a couple of scenes from the first one and remembered how I should be doing. This time too, I’m sure I’ll do it.” While Munna Bhai revolved around the life of Sanjay Dutt as a faux medical student, Lage Raho Munna Bhai had Sanjay Dutt as a faux professor and the film popularised the term ‘Gandhigiri’.
Arshad, who was last seen in Rohit Shetty’s Simmba in a cameo in the song Aankh Maarey said that Golmaal 5 will happen too. “That will happen too. All of us know, Rohit knows, that he owes it to the audience,” Arshad informed. On the work front, Rajkumar Hirani’s last directorial film was Sanju (2018), a biographical film on the life of Sanjay Dutt, starring Ranbir Kapoor and the film was well received by the critics and audiences.
