In the day and age of sequels, one of the most anticipated sequels is, inarguably, Mahesh Bhatt’s Sadak 2 and with Sadak 2, the filmmaker returns to direction after a whopping 23 years. It was on Bhatt’s 70th birthday that Alia Bhatt took to social media to announce as she wrote, ““SADAK 2 @MaheshNBhatt @PoojaB1972 @duttsanjay #AdityaRoyKapur #MukeshBhatt @VisheshFilms #Sadak2.”
A few days back, Alia Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapur were snapped coming out of Bhatt’s office in Mumbai after a script-reading session and from May, the shooting of Sadak 2 will start. While Sadak was a romantic thriller and the story revolved around the love story of a taxi driver and a woman forced into prostitution and how he rescues her from the shackles of the racket, in Sadak 2, Alia Bhatt will be seen exposing a fake guru who runs an ashram. “Alia’s character is out to expose a fake guru who runs an ashram. She is accompanied by Sanjay Dutt’s character in this journey. Sanjay has already started prep with Bhatt saab. They start shooting in a fortnight,” as quoted by Mirror.
And when Mahesh Bhatt was asked about the plot of Sadak 2, the filmmaker informed Mirror, “Sadak 2 is about love, loss, and redemption. To simplify a heartfelt narrative like this is to falsify it. You would be trivializing the essence of the film by suggesting that Sadak 2 is just this.” And when Mahesh Bhatt was asked as to who will be playing the role of the godman in the film, the filmmaker said, “Gulshan Grover is not playing the role but we have a great actor playing that part. But Gulshan plays a very important part as well.” While initially, Sadak 2 was to be shot in Romania but after a recee, the makers decided to shoot the film in Mumbai and other parts of India. Sadak 2 stars Sanjay Dutt, Alia Bhatt, Pooja Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur and Pooja Bhatt in lead roles.
