Rajinikanth and Nayanthara starrer Darbar’s first look and title were released recently, and post the same, fans have been going gaga about it after watching Thalaivar’s cool cop look. Now, as per Mumbai Mirror’s report, Prateik Babbar is all set to play the role of a baddie in the masala entertainer.
A source close to the movie told Mumbai Mirror, “Murugadoss was impressed by Prateik in Baaghi 2 and decided to cast him. He plays the antagonist’s son and will feature in important scenes with Rajini. After Mumbai, the team heads to Tamil Nadu for the remaining portions.” Interestingly, Prateik Babbar also played a baddie in his last release Baaghi 2, which was a box office blockbuster. In fact, the actor is also playing an antagonist in his upcoming films like Chhichhore, Power and Abhi Toh Party Shuru Hui Hai.
Prateik also confirmed the news, but refused to give the details of his role. He told Mumbai Mirror, “It has been my aspiration to share screen space with a legend like Rajinikanth sir. I can’t wait to meet him and observe him on set. I have been appreciated for characters with grey shades and I am investing my 200 percent in this role because it’s an opportunity of a lifetime.” As per the same report, for the role, Babbar has to gain more muscle and will also have to learn Tamil and Telugu languages.
Speaking of the movie, the same is being helmed by none other than AR Murugadoss. For the female lead, Nayanthara has been roped in and will be paired opposite the 68-year-old star. The movie is being bankrolled by Lyca Productions, who previously produced Rajinikanth’s last blockbuster 2.0. The film is slated to release next year on Pongal.
