As we all know, Shah Rukh Khan is slated to shoot a 15-day schedule of Raees in Gujarat and Kutch. However, it seems that these plans may go for a toss soon. It has been reported that Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) members are not too happy about him shooting in Gujarat and recently burnt posters of the movie as a mark of protest. Moreover, they have also asked District Collector to cancel the shooting permit given to Raees. To make matters worse, some reports state that the VHP may disrupt the shoot if it actually takes place.
Interestingly, this is not the first time that an SRK film has run into trouble with the VHP. Nearly two months ago the organization had protested the release of Dilwale as they were upset about the star’s remarks on intolerance. And by Shah Rukh’s own admission, these protests had affected the film’s box office performance at the domestic box office.
Touted as a thriller, Raees revolves around the life of a cruel bootlegger. Besides SRK, it also features Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Mahira Khan in the lead.
