After BJP emerged victoriously in Lok Sabha elections 2019, Narendra Modi is gearing to take oath as Prime Minister of India for the second time at 7 pm today, Thursday. A week ago, history was made. The election results painted the country saffron again. India had chosen Narendra Modi to be the Prime Minister of India for the second consecutive time. When the results were declared, several celebrities came to social media and congratulated PM Modi on his win and wished him for his second term. From Rishi Kapoor, Ajay Devgn to Varun Dhawan, Bollywood took to Twitter and congratulated Modi. Many stars are expected to be present at Rashtrapati Bhavan to witness Modi take an oath for his second term.
The memorable event is set to be a star-studded evening. While the who’s who of politics are bound to be present at the event, it is reported that several Bollywood stars are also expected. A whopping 8000 guests are expected to attend the swearing-in ceremony. The record number exceeds by 3000 guests as compared to 2014. When Modi was sworn in for the first time, about 5,000 people attended the ceremony. Several B-Town and South Indian stars are on the guest list this year.
In the past five years, we’ve seen Modi and the film fraternity support each other from time-to-time. So, on such an important occasion, we wouldn’t be surprised to see several Bollywood biggies present at the event. According to an India Today report, invitations of the swearing-in ceremony have been sent to many popular Indian film stars. This includes actor Shah Rukh Khan, producer-director Karan Johar, filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali and actress Kangana Ranaut are among those invited. Superstar Rajnikanth has confirmed his presence at the event. Kamal Haasan is also expected to be at the event.
Modi has also shared a good relationship with the sports fraternity in the country. Apart from celebrities from the film industry, several other renowned faces could make their way to the ceremony. Indian track and field athlete P T Usha, badminton star Saina Nehwal, badminton coach Pulella Gopichand, gymnast Dipa Karmakar and ace cricketers Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, Javagal Srinath, Harbhajan Singh, have been invited to the ceremony.
The swearing-in ceremony will also host industrialists such as Mukesh Ambani, Gautam Adani and Ratan Tata. The report Adani and Tata, business honchos Ajay Piramal, John Chambers and Bill Gates have been invited for the swearing-in ceremony. The leaders of BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation) countries have confirmed their attendance. This is being looked at a political strategy to snub Pakistan. Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister of Nepal KP Sharma Oli, President of Bangladesh Abdul Hamid, President of Myanmar U Win Myint and Bhutanese Prime Minister Lotay Tshering have confirmed their presence.
Apart from them, West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress Chief Mamata Banerjee, AAP leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and Andhra Pradesh CM (designate) YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy are among those invited.
