Phillauri Occupancy Rate: Anushka Sharma & Diljit Dosanjh’s film opens to a decent start
Set in Punjab, Phillauri is about a NRI Punjabi boy named Kanan (played by Suraj Sharma) who returns to India to get married to his childhood love (Mehreen Pirzada). But, things change for him when he gets to know that he is maanglik and he has to marry a tree. And there enters Shashi – the friendly ghost played byAnushka Sharma. Side by side, there’s a romantic track of Diljit Dosanjh and Anushka.
Phillauri has finally hit the screens and the occupancy report is out too. The film opened to a decent start. The overall occupancy rate was 20% in the morning shows, but was better in Punjab and Delhi – 30-35%. The positive word of mouth might prove a booster for the film.
In an interview with us, Anushka shared, “Whenever you give your best in the film you always want it to be a huge success. I think it’s a special film. It’s a complete family entertainer and kids can watch it with their family. We are playing with different elements like ghosts, recreating a character and creating a completely fictional character and you have not seen a ghost like this ever. It’s exciting to see that people are excited to see all this. We were a little nervous when the trailer came out.”
Yesterday, when we spoke to the trade experts, they estimated a figure of INR 3 crore on the opening day. It’ll be interesting to see how the film earns on Day 1!
