Swara Bhaskar’s Anaarkali of Aarah recently made news after a few scenes from the movie found their ways on the Internet.
The leaked video reportedly contains some bold scenes which were cut by the censor board when the film was sent for certification. Among other bold scenes, Swara Bhaskar’s getting groped and her bareback scene are also part of the clip.
Reacting sharply on this, the Chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification, Pahlaj Nihalani while talking to a leading daily said, “The film has not been censored or certified as yet. We haven’t made any cuts in any film of this name. So where is the question of ‘censored’ scenes being leaked?”
The CBFC Chief even implicated that a few people unnecessarily drag censor board’s name to gain publicity. “I call this cost-effective publicity. You make a small-budget film, which needs to get noticed. You concoct censor problems for the film, where there is none. You get loads of media coverage as soon as you speak of your film being banned by the censor board,” said Pahlaj Nihalani.
Asserting that the CBFC is now intending to take serious action against such films which needlessly drags CBFC name, the CBFC Chief added, “We are tired of our name being dragged down for publicity. You please make your film about Anarkali from Arrah, Chapra, Rohtak or Rai Bareilly. The CBFC has no interest in playing the party-pooper. If a filmmaker wants to use the CBFC’s name for publicity he will have to substantiate his allegations. Aise hi Facebook ya Twitter pe gaali dena nahin chalega (just abusing on social networks won’t do).”
Anaarkali of Aarah is a woman-centric film directed by Avinash Das and is set to hit the theaters on March 24, 2017.
