Hollywood is undoubtedly one of the most competitive and challenging film industries in the world today. Moreover, it is not easy for everyone to break into what many consider to be the “big league”. In an exciting development, a leading newspaper recently conducted a series of interviews with a host of non-American stars who were not, as the magazine put it – ‘straight white men’. They asked the stars about their experience of working in Hollywood. And one of those stars happened to be none other than Bollywood’s resident ‘Desi Girl’ Priyanka Chopra. As part of the interaction, the 33-year-old Quantico actress recalled a meeting with a fan which made her feel proud of her international achievements..
‘I do feel extremely proud when I have people of the South Asian community coming up to me and saying, thankfully we’re seeing a non-stereotyped Indian. At an event, I remember this girl hugged me and started crying. She said, “Thank you for making us relevant.” It gives me goose bumps every time I think about it.”’ she said.
Interestingly, some of the other names interviewed by the daily include Eva Longoria, Jessie Smollett and Hari Nef, filmmaker Justin Lin and Joan Chen to name a few. Talk about being in good company!
