The Vampire Diaries is a show which is a guilty pleasure for many. After eight years of awesomeness, we fell in love with Elena Gilbert, Stefan Salvatore and Damon Salvatore. Just like Twilight (2008) has Team Edward and Team Jacob, fans were split between Stelena and Delena shippers. Ultimately, it was Delena who survived the end, but there were many who thought Stefan and Elena should have bee endgame instead. But, did you know, in the beginning, Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley used to hate each other?
Nina appeared on co-stars Candice King and Kayla Ewell’s Directionally Challenged podcast to make the interesting revelation. “Paul and I didn’t get along at the beginning of the show… I respected Paul Wesley, I didn’t like Paul Wesley,” Dobrev revealed. The actress further spoke about how people would assume that the two were dating because of their onscreen chemistry when in reality they despised each other which read as love instead. The pair did not get along for the first five months of shooting.
Paul had earlier told Nina that in ten years time, she was going to really miss him and the time they shared. Dobrev commented to the US Weekly, “He was so f*g right. We ended up getting to a good place and it was fine. Of everyone, I think I probably see him the most and hang out with him the most. We’re probably the closest.”
The actress also shared that they hang out a lot now and are really good friends and that she is close to Paul’s wife as well. “It’s so funny how time changes everything because I never thought he would be one of my best friends,” Nina concluded.
When it comes to the other Salvatore brother, Ian Somerhalder, Nina was in a relationship with him from 2010 to 2013.
