Neerja Should Be India’s Official Entry to the Oscars, Say Makers

It was just a few days ago that the Sonam Kapoor starrer Neerja opened to a thunderous response at the box office while receiving rave reviews. Now, the film is back in the news once again. According to a reports, the makers ofNeerja want it to be India’s official entry to the Academy awards.

“I think this is the film that deserves to go…I think it will make India proud. So, I think Neerja has to be India’s entry to the Oscars (this year),” said Fox Star CEO Vijay Singh.

Moreover, he also emphasized that the film will soon be released in other countries as well.

Neerja has been a learning lesson for all of us. This is just the beginning…We want to release the film in lot of countries like Taiwan and others who don’t look at Bollywood films. It is a long race,” Vijay added.

For the uninitiated, Neerja is a hard-hitting biopic and highlights how a brave flight attendant named Neerja Bhanot lost her life while trying to protect passengers from terrorists. Directed by Ram Madhvani, it also features veteran actress Shabana Azmi in the lead.
