Nawazuddin Siddiqui: Oscars paid homage to Om Puri while Bollywood forgot him

The Oscars 2017 took the world by storm as it honoured the best films and artists accross the globe on the night of the 26th. Amidst all the fun and fanfare, the Oscars took a few moment to pay homage to artists who passed away recently. Among them was also Om Puri, who died on January 6th this year.

Apparently, Nawazuddin was one of the many Indians who was touched by this gesture. Siddiqui also bashed Bollywood for not doing the same for an esteemed member of their community.

He took to Twitter to say, “@TheAcademy #Oscars paid homage 2 late #OmPuri, But in #bollywood award functions nobody converse single word for his contribution… SHAME.”

Nawazuddin has worked with the late veteran actor in the Salman Khan movie Bajrangi Bhaijaan. 

Om Puri, who made a name for himself in Hollywood, has worked in international projects such as East Is East, City of Joy, Wolf, The Ghost, Darkness and Charlie Wilson’s War.
