Clearly, 2017 hasn’t been a good year for Notting Hill actor Mischa Barton. In January, The O.C actress was hospitalized on her birthday night after someone spiked her drinks. Then, the 31-year-old was filmed behaving bizarrely in her back garden, hanging over the fence while claiming her mother is a witch and threatening to kill herself. Thereafter, she reportedly crashed a U-Haul truck into a West Hollywood apartment building.
Following months of turmoil, finally, Mischa Barton opened up to TV therapist Dr. Phil McGraw about her ordeal and the flip side of fame. In an interview, the 31-year-old actress talked about the months leading up to her being placed on a psychiatric hold in 2009.
In an interview, Dr. Phil asked her, “You were at the height of your fame, but there was a dark side. Talk about that some. What happened? What was your experience of it?” A calm Barton said, “Right, so I think you’re getting into the 5150 and that time. That never seemed to have been entirely cleared up either. I probably took about eight days off that entire year, and I had no time to myself, I traveled the word, not complaining, I was in some of the most beautiful places in every waking second so say we filmed nine months out of the year, every other second I spent doing advertising campaigns or whatever it was,” adding, “I didn’t realize I was exhausting myself. Ultimately, what really happened was they wanted me to be able to continue working and to go on to the next show.”
Talking about the sex tape, Mischa Barton said, “It got to me because somebody came up to on the street and said “There’s something I need to tell you. And I didn’t believe it at first; I couldn’t believe it because I loved this person and I didn’t believe it was possible, and I later learned that it was entirely possible.”
