The Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra starrer Kesari was released in theatres all over India on March 21, 2019 and received positive response from both the audiences as well as the critics. The movie, which has been directed by Anurag Singh, was able to cross the Rs 100 crore mark in its very first week at the box office. During the last few weeks, the movie has been able to collect about Rs 40 crore at the domestic box office. However, currently, the movie has been showing the signs of slowing down at the box office. In fact, Kesari has been struggling to cross the Rs 150 crore mark even on its 17th day at the box office.
Kesari happens to be the second biggest opening movie in Bollywood for Akshay Kumar after Gold. The movie had also been able to surpass the opening day collections of many movies like the Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer Gully Boy, the multi starrer comedy Total Dhamaal and the Brie Larson starrer MCU movie Captain Marvel. The story of Kesari revolves around the Battle of Saragarhi which was fought in the year 1897.
Kesari stars Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra in the lead roles. The movie also stars Jaspreet Singh, Vivek Saini, Vansh Bharadwaj, Vikram Kochhar and Mir Sarwar in significant roles. Kesari also happens to be amongst the list of the top five highest grossing Bollywood movies of the year 2019 in the opening week itself.
