Zero starring Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma was one of the biggest films of 2018. However, this Aanand L Rai directorial failed to impress the audiences as well as the critics at the box office. In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, Katrina Kaif got candid about Zero’s failure and how important the film and her character Babita are for her.
Kat said that Aanand is a phenomenal director and he was clear that her character was a struggling actress battling insecurity and heartbreak and used alcohol as a crutch to cloak her feelings and number her pain. The actress added, “Despite the film not working at the box office, I had the time of my life playing Babita. She was so cliched, so filmi! Who walks around in boxer shorts with a bottle of vodka in a hand? But as Aanand sir would point out, the challenge was to feel for this outlandish character and make her real.”
The Phantom actress also revealed that the original draft of the film that was discussed had the version titled Katrina Meri Jaan. She revealed that earlier both SRK and Kat were going to play double roles and both the actors were supposed to play dwarfs.
She further added, “But that script changed and evolved, as it happens sometimes, and what came about was a film in a different space and genre.”
Katrina Kaif will be next seen in Bharat alongside Salman Khan. The film releases on Eid this year.
