Karan Johar and SS Rajamouli express their thoughts on Padmavati’s vandalism incident
The set of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Padmavati, which stars Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone andShahid Kapoor, was vandalised by a group of 15-20 people at Mhasai Pathar in Kolhapur. Going by the reports, it is estimated that the team incurred a loss of about INR 4 crores and the whole media is reporting about this unfortunate incident. And this is the second time that Sanjay Leela Bhansali has gone through such an incident.
At the trailer launch of Baahubali 2, Karan Johar and SS Rajamouli were asked about their views as filmmakers on what happened with Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
Responding to the query, Karan Johar said, “I have gone on record and spoken about what happened with Sanjay and it’s deeply saddening to be as a filmmaker, as a human being and as a citizen of prestigious and wonderful country that we have to endure something like this and my thoughts, my support and all my ideologies are with Sanjay. I hope that adequate measures can be taken that something like this could never happen to another filmmaker again in our land.”
Adding to it, SS Rajamouli said, “I completely agree with Karan on that one. Any artist be it a filmmaker or a musician or a writer shouldn’t go through this. We still don’t know what Mr Bhansali is going to present. He is an artist and he should be able to express his views. The freedom of speech is one of the fundamental rights of this country.”
