A well-known Indian lyricist, screenwriter, poet, Ad Guru as well as the current chairperson of Central Board of Film Certification, Prasoon Joshi celebrates his 47th birthday today. During an interview, the CBFC chief talked about his journey so far in the industry as well as spending a quite birthday with his family. When asked about working with Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut in upcoming film, Manikarnika, he said he is an admirer of the Queen actress.
He said, “Working with Kangana in Manikarnika has been a memorable experience. I have always been an admirer of her. I believe she holds an eminent place amongst the evergreen talent of Bollywood.” Manikarnika will be Kangana Ranaut’s directorial and it will also be Prasoon’s first movie where he wrote lyrics for songs post becoming the head of CBFC.
While commenting on the controversies surrounding Kangana that have emerged of late, Joshi said, “Controversies/disputes that are out of control are extremely unfortunate, they should be avoided, a film or an actor should be adjudged on the scale of merit only”. Prasoon, however, feels there is no real dispute around Manikarnika.
Manikarnika is based on the life of Rani Lakshmi Bai, the hero of India’s first war of independence. At first, the film was being directed by Krish, however, due to his unavailability, the actress was asked to take over the project so that it gets the timely release of Republic Day. The actress was asked to take over the project because of the dedication and her involvement in the film.
