Justin Bieber who has been in the news of late took to Instagram to praise and defend Chris Brown and even compared him to popular singers like Michael Jackson and Tupac Shakur. He shared an image which showed MJ and Tupac’s addition leading to CB. He captioned the image as, “everyone wants to wait til people die to give them the credit they deserve. I’m calling it now when CB passes away after a long full life, you will miss what you had in front of you the whole time … trust me watch you will see. the people who have over looked this mans talent because of a mistake he made.. you need to reevaluate! Love you @chrisbrownofficial (sic).”
For the unversed, Brown is infamous for his violence towards women and was even arrested for assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Rihanna. And since then, he has been receiving backlash from many artists and many don’t want to work with him. Bieber soon received a barrage of comments on his post and the same were mixed. Many of them including J Blavin, Nick Cannon and Sean Kingston supported him, while others slammed him for the words.
One of the users commented,“I’ve loved u since I was a KID kid Justin but there is NO justification for beating someone to near death… I’m sorry but it’s true.” Another wrote, “Most of your fans are girls/women and we are scared to death of men like CB. And to see someone like you stepping up to praise him is very disappointing…It’s really dangerous to praise him regardless of how talented you genuinely think he is. It wasn’t just “one mistake”. It’s just so much more than that.”
Recently, Chvrches (a band which consists of Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook and Martin Dohert) recently slammed Marshmello for working with Brown. An excerpt from their statement read, “We like and respect Mello as a person but working with people who are predators and abusers enables, excuses and ultimately tacitly endorses that behaviour. That is not something we can or will stand behind.”
Brown replied to the same and called Chvrches a “bunch of losers” and also added that they are “goodday peasants.” Chvrches’ Lauren Mayberry later revealed how she has been receiving death threats from Brown’s fans post their band’s statement.
