SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus has shattered all the records from Aamir Khan’s Dangal to Salman Khan’s Sultan. Baahubali 2’s magic is unstoppable and is still roaring at the box office minting INR 1250 croreworldwide. Today, at the song preview of Tubelight’s first song, The Radio Song, director Kabir Khan was asked whether he feels any pressure taking in account of Baahubali 2’s huge numbers.
Well, he had an epic answer to it and it was hilarious to the core. To this question of a reporter, he replied back saying, “No.. waise hi zindagi ka pressure kam hai, ki hum Baahubali ka pressure bhi leke bhaithe! We can’t take pressure of Baahubali 2. If our film makes that much, it will be great but we are not moving ahead with that pressure in mind.” Isn’t it a perfect way of putting out an honest confession?
Kabir was asked about Tubelight’s similarities with the 2015 American war film, Little Boy. Khan said, “The film is an official adaptation of this small American film, Little Boy. We bought its short rights. We like the idea of the story. Of course the film is different. But we wanted to adapt it in our historical context, in the context of the movie.”
Kabir also mentioned that the Radio Song will first be launched in Dubai on May 16. Elaborating on this, Amar Butala said that since around 30-40% of the business happens in the Gulf, they wanted to reach out to that audience as well and hence this decision. With this, Tubelight will become the first film whose song will release overseas.
Earlier, talking about Salman’s character, director Kabir Khan said, “I have done three films with him (Salman) and this time he has pushed the boundaries in terms of craft and acting.”
Tubelight is set against the backdrop of Sino-Indian war in 1962. The film also stars Sohail Khan and Chinese actor Zhu Zhu. The movie is set to release on June 23, 2017.
