Imran Khan’s directorial debut fails to impress producers?

After the disappointing performance of Katti Batti (2015) at the box office, Imran Khan has been missing from the big screen. Though the actor is often spotted at B-town events, there has been no news about the 34-year-old signing an acting project.

However, the buzz has been that Imran will soon be trying his hand at direction and is writing a script with hairstylist-turned-writer Ayesha DeVitre. And now going by the reports in a leading daily, the Mere Brother Ki Dulhan star has completed the script and is on a lookout for a producer.

Apparently, Imran had also met Atul Kasbekar who had produced Sonam Kapoor starrer Neerja last year but was turned down and hasn’t been able to find anyone backing the script as of yet.

Reportedly, a producer he had recently met had also asked the actor to rework the script and sent it back after scribbling through many pages.

Imran who had made his filmy debut in Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na with Genelia D’Souza in 2008, was at the peak of his career after giving hit films like Delhi Belly (2011), Mere Brother Ki Dulhan (2011) and Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu (2012) and has also  shared the screen with the likes of Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif and Kareena Kapoor Khan.

However, tables turned after the debacle of Katti Batti that presented Imran and Kangana’s pair on screen. Directed by Nikhil Advani, the romantic drama had only minted Rs 22.5 crore during its first week, with a better performance overseas.
