The man of the moment is none other than Ayushmann Khurrana. His much awaited film Dream Girl released this Friday, which was a day ahead of his 35th birthday. As Ayushmann entered a new year of his life, Dream Girl released in theatres. Starring Ayushmann as Karamveer Singh aka Pooja, the film revolves around the life of a man who pretends to be a woman to get a job at a female call centre. The film also stars Nushrat Bharucha, Annu Kapoor, Manjot Singh, Vijay Raaz and others.
Coming to the box office collection, it looks like Ayushmann’s birthday gift has come in the form of a good opening day. Dream Girl’s box office collection of day 1 is Rs 9.50 Crore which beat Vicky Kaushal’s Uri: The Surgical Strike and Kartik Aaryan’s Luka Chuppi’s opening day collections. It also beat Chhichhore’s collection. In the North areas like Delhi, UP East Dream Girl collected Rs 2.55 Crore nett and in Punjab alone it earned Rs 1.13 Crore. In Mumbai, Ayushmann’s film earned Rs 2.75 Crore and it surely is a great start.
The numbers are expected to go up over the weekend as Dream Girl is getting rave reviews and as the word of mouth spreads, it will have a positive impact on the film’s collections. Talking about the film, it is written and directed by Raj Shandiliyaa and is produced by Ekta Kapoor. The songs of the film are a super hit including Dhaga La Lag Li remake, Radhe Radhe, Dil Ka Telephone and more. Ayushmann has called the film as his ‘most masala commercial film’ ever. The National Film Award winner has given audiences yet another amazing story and it will be interesting to see how the collections rise over the weekend.
