Popular author Stephen King whose masterpieces have been adapted into numerous movies, is known to be quite vocal about his opinions. This is the reason why he expressed his discontent when Stanley Kubrick’s movie The Shining was released around 40 years back. However, his opinions are entirely different about Doctor Sleep which happens to be an adaptation of his sequel novel to ‘The Shining.’ The movie has been creating quite a ruckus in the media ever since its inception.
Recently, in an exclusive interview with the Entertainment Weekly, Stephen King has given his honest reviews about Doctor Sleep. He is all praises for Mike Flanagan who happens to be the director of the movie. A particular sentence said by King during the interview has specifically caught our attention. He says, “Everything that I ever disliked about the Kubrick version of The Shining is redeemed for me here.” He also admitted about reading the script very well before approving it.
Stephen King praised Mike Flanagan by saying that he has enjoyed all the former’s movies. For the unversed, Mike Flanagan had previously collaborated with King for another movie, Gerald’s Game. Talking about the movie Doctor Sleep, it stars Ewan McGregor, Rebecca Ferguson, Cliff Curtis and debutant Kyliegh Curran in the lead roles. The movie has been produced by Trevor Macy and Jon Berg.
