Deepika Padukone is indeed carving a route of success for herself. She is currently shooting for her upcoming film, Padmavati which is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. There were rumours doing the rounds that she might star in the Bollywood remake of Mr & Mrs Smith.
When asked at an event yesterday, Deepika rubbished all such rumours. She said, “I have always maintained that when I am offered a film, I will talk about it. If [I’m] not, I will never talk about it. Speculation can go on. The only film I am doing now is Padmavati (Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s period drama). It is consuming my life. When I have something else to talk about, I will do that.”
Padmavati is based on the 1303 story of Alauddin Khilji taking over the Rajasthan’s Chittor fort. Khilji was said to be obsessed with Rani Padmini, the wife of Rana Rawal Ratan Singh. But, even before Khilji could get to Padmini, she, in order to save her dignity, chose death. While Deepika plays the role of Padmini,Shahid Kapoor will be seen as Rana Rawal Ratan Singh. Ranveer Singh will step into the shoes of Alauddin Khilji.
Deepika was also in news that she might star in a movie with Sidharth Malhotra. When quizzed about it, she looked irked and said, “There have been rumours regarding a lot of films that I am supposedly doing. There is a certain decorum and conduct [one must follow] when you’re offered a film, whether you do it or not.”
