Deepika Padukone is a prolific Bollywood actress whose repertoire is impressive beyond belief. The star has come forward in the industry in her own accord and is still flourishing as one of the leading B-town actresses. Her last release was Padmaavat which was a blockbuster at the box-office and won Deepika a ton of praises. Hence, it comes as no surprise that Padukone was recently appointed as the Chairperson of the 21st MAMI Mumbai Film Festival. The former chairperson Kiran Rao has stepped down from the position to focus on film projects.
When Deepika was asked about becoming the Chairperson, the actress gushed to Mumbai Mirror, “It’s an absolute honour and a huge responsibility. I believe in MAMI’s vision & we are committed towards creating a community that cinema lovers & creators of a film-passionate nation like ours truly deserve.” Kiran too was ecstatic to welcome Deepika as the new Chairperson and called her one of India’s most loved film stars. This is indeed some extremely exciting news for Deepika Padukone!
Meanwhile, on the work front, Deepika will commence shooting for Meghna Gulzar’s Chhapaak from the third week of March. The actress will primarily shoot in Mumbai and Delhi.
Chhapaak is based on the true story of acid attack victim, Laxmi Agarwal and also stars Vikrant Massey.
