We are freaking out! Why shouldn’t we? Christopher Nolan is coming to town. The ace director, who has helmed masterpieces like The Dark Knight series, Dunkirk and Inception, is all set to film his next movie in India. The filmmaker is packing his bags for Mumbai as he prepares to film his next flick titled Tenet. The movie is extra special for Indians are the movie stars the versatile actress Dimple Kapadia has been roped in for a role. The announcement was made a few days ago. Now, we hear that the director will be filming in the business capital in September.
According to Mumbai Mirror report, a portion of cast and crew of Tenet will touch down in Mumbai in a few months and film a few portions of the film in South Bombay. Iconic places like Taj Mahal hotel, Gateway Of India and the Colaba market will serve as the location for Tenet. It is also reported that Nolan did a recce of these places when he came to India last year.
A source told the publication, “Nolan was in Mumbai last year for an event hosted by Film Heritage Foundation’s Shivendra Singh Dungarpur on the need to promote the use, restoration and preservation of films. During his four-day stay he decided to shoot here, and in September will mostly be filming in South Bombay, around the Gateway of India, the Taj Mahal hotel and the Colaba Market.”
“For the recce, he was accompanied by production designer Nathan Crowley and cinematographer, Hoyte Van Hoytema among other team members with Shivendra helping them scout for locations too,” the insider added. The team will be filming a major chase sequence in the city. So gear up to spot some Hollywood biggies in town. The schedule is expected to stretch up to seven-eight days.
The source also revealed details about Dimple’s role in the movie. “Dimple plays a 60-plus lady who has a crucial role in the narrative. Her readings were done at a Sobo hotel,” the source shared. The movie, which is dubbed as an action epic, also stars Robert Pattinson, Michael Caine, Kenneth Branagh, John David Washington, Elizabeth Debicki, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Clemence Poesy. The film is eyeing a July 2020 release.
