Sarkar 3 has been in news ever since its inception. It’s said to be based on the life of Bal Thackeray. Just days before, there were updates that Ram Gopal Varma will have to add a disclaimer to the trailer. It was done because CBFC felt the scenes and dialogues bear an uncanny resemblance to the Thackeray family.
Now, the news is that if all the reports of the film based on the Thackeray are true, RGV will have to get an NOC from the family. CBFC Chief Pahlaj Nihalani has confirmed all the developments and told a leading daily, “Filmmakers will not be allowed to sit on the fence. Either your work is based on true characters. Or it is a work of fiction. If you claim your film is based on facts then get us an NOC from the people concerned.”
“Earlier, trailers were shown only in movie theatres. Now they are released on social network platforms much before they hit theatres. After the trailer of Jolly LLB 2 was released there were lawsuits, as the trailer suggested that the film had real-life references. We’ve now decided to be careful with trailers as well,” added Nihalani.
Putting his point strongly, he asserted, “Is Sarkaar 3 based on the life of Bal Thackeray? If it is, then please get an NOC from his family. If not, then state it is a work of fiction. We are doing this for the benefit of filmmakers who get into messy lawsuits just days before their film releases.”
Sarkar 3 has an ensemble cast which includes Amitabh Bachchan, Rohini Hattangadi, Jackie Shroff, Manoj Bajpayee, Ronit Roy, Bharat Dabholkar, Yami Gautam and Amit Sadh.
