Vidya Balan’s Begum Jaan opened to mixed reviews at the box office, but her stellar performance has made a mark on the viewers’ mind. Not just Vidya, Gauahar Khan’s performance has also been highlighted and fans appreciated her for putting up a brilliant show.
The film traces the lives of Vidya and the women living in her brothel in rural Punjab. Begum Jaan is a Hindi adaptation of director Srijit Mukherji’s Bengali film Rajkahini.
Going by a report in a trade website, Begum Jaan has shown a slight drop on Day Two. It earned INR 3.25 crore and in total has collected INR 6.75 crore in two days of its release. In an interview with us, when we asked does box office numbers affect Vidya, she said, “Of course! But thankfully I am so selfish about being the actor part of me because I really feel blessed of living my dream of being an actor. So on set, I don’t think about anything. Whether this film will work or whether the previous one didn’t work. I just sink my teeth into the role and I thoroughly enjoy it.”
She also added, “When my choices are right it is heartening. It boosts your confidence. I believed in something and that gets appreciated. You went ahead and did your best and now the world feels the same. That feeling is unparalleled. When a film does well commercially, it is a huge high!”
Meanwhile, Fast and Furious 8 following the tradition of Beauty and the Beast is doing well at the box office, It has in total raked in INR 36 crore including paid previews at the domestic market.
