Bajirao and Mastani’s descendants accuse Bhansali of vulgar portrayal of Bajirao, Kashibai and Mastani

The angry descendants of Peshwa Bajirao and Mastani expressed their anger and disgust at Sanjay Leela Bhansali through a press conference, for ‘distorting history’. Their contention is that his film Bajirao Mastani is bringing disgrace to the long heritage of the royal family, and they have demanded that certain objectionable portions be removed from the film.

It may be recalled that the controversy broke out after the Pinga song featuring Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone was released, and looks like now the dispute has taken a serious turn. With Peshwa’s family members threatening to move court if their demands are not met, it remains to be seen if the historical romance will keep its date with the theatres on December 18.

Mastani’s descendants have already taken legal recourse, alleging that they were never consulted before or after the movie went on floors. They have sought a stay on the release, demanding that they be shown the film before it hits the screens. The kin are particularly offended by the Pinga song as they feel it is a vulgar display of women in the song. Then they have also objected to a scene showing Bajirao (Ranveer Singh) sharing an intimate moment with his wife Kashi Bai (Priyanka).
