Forbes magazine has announced that Baahubali 2‘s $80 million debut is bigger news than Furious’s $532 Million. The magazine explains why. They quote, “Baahubali didn’t merely surpass the previous record for an Indian movie, it absolutely demolished it. Before last Friday, the high water mark among Indian movie opening weekends was the INR 180 crore ($28 million) record set by Sultan in 2016. Baahubali 2 nearly tripled that record. For Fate of the Furious to match the scale of that feat, it would have had to gross $1.5 billion in its debut weekend. When one considers the market constraints that Indian movies face, Baahubali’s success becomes all the more impressive.”
Now, isn’t that something?
