Baahubali: The Conclusion is one of the most anticipated movies this year. As fans count days for it to release, things weren’t all smooth down south especially in Karnataka. Things became worse when a group of pro-Kannada organizations, led by former MLA Vatal Nagaraj, called for a Bengaluru bandh on April 28, 2017. The bandh was called for in protest against a statement made by Tamil actor Sathyaraj against the Kannadigas some nine years ago.
However, after much hysteria, Sathyaraj issued an unconditional apology on Friday. “Nine years ago, I voiced my opinion during the Cauvery row. People in Karnataka burnt my effigies for my strong comments. I have been told that my comments back then had hurt the sentiments of Kannadigas. I deeply regret to have made such comments,” said Sathyaraj in a video statement.
Following this, former MLA Vatal Nagaraj has now declared that there will be no obstructions in the release of ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’ in Karnataka. “We have considered his (Sathyaraj’s) apology. The film’s director S.S. Rajamouli has also apologized,” said Vatal Nagaraj.
Further, he said, “As Sathyaraj apologized, there will not be any obstruction for the release of ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’. But, Sathyaraj should keep his words in control.”
He also clarified that they do not have any problems with the film’s content and their protest was only against Sathyaraj.
He also commented on the nature of Sathyaraj’s apology and said “Sathyaraj should have apologized publicly. He sat somewhere and regretted his words against Kannadigas. But we will consider this.”
Earlier, Baahubali director SS Rajamouli had made an emotional appeal to the public and had released a video requesting the people to not create any problem for the film release. “Linking his [Sathyaraj] old remarks that were made several years ago with the current scenario and posing an obstacle to the release of the movie is not in the interest of the industry,” Rajamouli had said.
Well, now that all is well we can’t wait for the film to release!
