Avengers: Endgame has completed a week and few days at the worldwide box office and Marvel’s highly-anticipated film has gone on to smash multiple records. While back home, Endgame is expected to touch Rs 300 crore at the box office, globally the film is expected to have crossed the USD 2 billion mark over this weekend. And with this milestone unlocked, the superhero flick has left a few iconic films behind in the race to become one of the top grossers. One of them is director James Cameron’s 1997 film Titanic.
Now, fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are hoping that Endgame further goes and crushes another James Cameron-directorial titled Avatar, which is currently the highest-grossing movie of all time, after the filmmaker said he hopes “we’ll start getting Avenger fatigue here pretty soon.”
James Cameron has been quite vocal about his take on superhero movies. He had said in April 2018, “Not that I don’t love the movies. It’s just, come on guys, there are other stories to tell besides hyper-gonadal males without families doing death-defying things for two hours and wrecking cities in the process. It’s like, oy!”
Well, this obviously did not go down well with fans who are now rooting for Avengers: Endgame to dethrone Avatar. With USD 2.78 billion, Avatar is the highest grossing film and Avengers: Endgame is likely to mint that number in a couple of weeks given its fantastic run at the box office.
