The presales are hinting at the blockbuster opening weekend Avengers: Endgame is going to witness. It was earlier revealed that the Marvel movie shattered presales records in the US within six hours of the tickets going live. And now, reports from the Asian market reveals that Avengers: Endgame has broken presale records in China.
The Marvel movie is releasing two days before the US premiere in China, aka April 24. This gives the Marvel movie a five-day weekend. Fans are making sure they grab tickets to the first possible show of the MCU movie to avoid spoilers. As a result, the presales records have shattered in China.
Gavin Feng, who tracks the Chinese box office and film news, took to Twitter and revealed that the Chinese total presale of touching $90 million. She tweeted, “Chinese total pre-sale of Avengers: Endgame is nearly $90M and would be higher in the last 14 hours. Early estimate for the midnights box office is around $20M, which is more than double of what the previous record holder Furious 8 did($9.1M).”
These numbers have helped Avengers: Endgame set a new all-time presales record in China. The Hollywood Reporter reveals that the record places the Marvel movie high above Monster Hunt 2 (which earned a RMB 401 million) and Avengers: Infinity War (which recorded RMB 398 million).
As per the THR report, leading China box office reporting group Artisan Gateway predicts Avengers: Endgame will earn an approximate of $270 million (1.8 billion RMB) through the five-day opening. If it does, Avengers: Endgame would become the first Hollywood film to earn more than RMB 3 billion (just under $450 million) in China.
