There are several issues concerned with the safety and care of women and Bollywood is being an instrument in raising awareoness over these issues.
Amidst all the hustle, Arjun Kapoor’s sister Anshula Kapoor has recently raised her voice on a very important issue which needs to be addressed as well. Anshula took to Twitter to express her concern over the matter of sanitary napkins. Expressing her opinion, she asked Finance Minister Arun Jaitley to evade tax from sanitary napkins as it is a necessity and not a luxury.
She gave a very interesting hashtag to her tweet which said, “#LahuKaLagaan.” This is what her tweet said, “@arunjaitleyplsmake sanitary napkins tax-free under GST – they should be classified as an essential item & not a luxury! #LahuKaLagaan.” Anshula had posted another tweet in the morning today which focused on the same topic.
“Sir, @arunjaitley sanitary napkins shouldn’t be a luxury. Why should women be taxed to bleed when we have no control over it? #LahukaLagaan.” We, completely agree with you Anshula.
Artists like Mallika Dua, Kanan Gill, Sorabh Pant also expressed their concern over the matter and asked people to keep messaging to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in order to seek his attention on the topic. Some of them even shared the poor statistics on the micro blogging site.
The hashtag #LahuKaLagaan was initiated to raise awareness about how poor women can’t afford such expensive pads and thus they have to look for other alternatives. It is good to see everyone doing their bit in order to make this world a better place.
