Dealing with trolls is something celebrities have been struggling from time to time. While celebs choose to ignore, they reach a point when they cannot tolerate their comments and fight back. But in Anurag Kashyap’s case, a troll’s threat led to an FIR being filed.
A few days ago, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap reached out Prime Minister Narendra Modi to seek help against online trolls. The director was congratulating the PM on winning the Lok Sabha elections 2019 for the second consecutive time and informed the BJP politician and Twitteratis that trolls have been targetting his daughter and threatened to rape.
The Dev D maker tweeted, “Sir please also tell us how do we deal with these followers of yours who celebrate your victory by threatening my daughter with messages like this for me being your dissenter.” The confession received a massive reaction from Twitter users. Following his tweet, the filmmaker revealed that an FIR was filed against the troll who threatened to rape his daughter.
The case has been registered under sections 504 and 509 of the Indian Penal code. The case has also filed been under 67 of the information technology act. The director lodged the complaint at the Amboli police station, as per a Zoom TV report.
He took to Twitter to confirm that development. “Anyways I want to thank @MumbaiPolice @MahaCyber1 @Brijeshbsingh for helping me with filing the FIR . Thank you so much for the amazing support and starting the process .Thank you @Dev_Fadnavis and thank you @narendramodi Sir. As a father I am more secure now .”
